With that being said, securing your Twitter account becomes essential, a great way to secure Twitter account is to activate the two-steps verification that was introduced by twitter in May 2013. Many business accounts and governmental accounts still didn’t activate that feature, which put their accounts at risk.

76% of these millions of people are on mobile, so in this article i will give a simple explanation on how to activate twitter two-steps verification log-in method with your mobile, i will also attach a presentation please feel free to share it. 2-steps method requires you to

1- Confirm your email

2- have a mobile number connected to you account.

3- Download Mobile App (if using iOS or Android) [OPTIONAL]

 

Before we go any further, you need to confirm or connect your mobile number with your Twitter @username if you haven’t already. follow the below steps to activate it via SMS

Note: You can skip this part if you already have your mobile number connected to your account

  1. Send a text to your Twitter code with the word START.
  2. Twitter will reply and ask you to text YES to the Twitter short code.
  3. Text your username to the same number. Do not use the @ symbol or quotation marks. Send your username ONLY, for example: amged
  4. Next, text your password. This is case sensitive, so be sure you are sending your password correctly.
  5. You’re ready to go! Now you can post Tweets, receive notifications about your account, and enroll in security features like login verification.

 

Now that you have you mobile activated and connected, lets enroll you to the mobile login verification

1- Go to the Security & Privacy page, and select Send login verification requests to +###YOURNUMBER# as shown in the below screenshot

When you click on “Send login verification requests” a new box will popup to inform you that twitter will send a test SMS to your mobile number for confirmation as shown below

Once you click Okay, Twitter will send you the SMS and you will need to make sure your received it and confirm that you did as shown on the next screenshot

After confirming that you’ve received the SMS, enrollment to login verification will now be “Selected” check below screenshot for more info

That’s it for the 1st step, but if you have an iOS or Android, you might want to activate the “Send login verification requests to the Twitter app”

Follow the below steps to activate it:

1- Simply download Twitter App form here if you don’t already have it installed.

 

2- Add your Twitter Account (SMS will now be be sent to your movile number so you can login on simply generate an app password (which can be used once and will be valid for one hour only)

3- Once added your account, simply navigate to Settings -> @username -> scroll down till you find “Security”

4- Click on the security and “check” the  Login Verification

Twitter now will inform you that to login to Twitter ever again, you will need “that same application on that same mobile phone” which means no other mobile can generate that code but that exact mobile.

When you click ok, Twitter App will ask you to back up your login code. THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT and you MUST backup that code or write it down in a secured place,

What this basically do is will not allow anyone to sign in to your account unless a code is generated from “that app” on “that mobile” which means no other mobile can verify it and no other app installed on any other mobile can generate the code.

 

You should now be able to see the “Send login verification requests to Twitter for Android” selected on your Twitter Security Settings

Make sure also to select “Require personal information to reset my password” it helps during resetting password.

 

Conclusion:

Activating Twitter’s two-steps login verification is crucial for your business/VIT account security. And enabling the “Send login verification requests to Twitter for Android/iOS” allows “ONE” person to control the account’s accessing.
